Forward Thinking offers thoughtful and provocative discussions related to the conditions that shape politics, policy making and governance in California.

Every two weeks, a few writers representing different political and professional backgrounds correspond on a subject. We hope you’ll follow along and offer your opinions as well. Topics will include questions such as how and why people participate in political life, what role political parties play in good governance, why there are increasing numbers of voters registering as “Declining to State,” whether changes to our electoral system can affect the culture of the Legislature, and so on.
